ErMC2 is pleased to announce the addition of Larry Adams, former Executive Director of the Office of Technical & Administrative Support of the KY Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Keith Smith, former Assistant Director Division of Mine Reclamation & Enforcement of the DNR.  Mr. Adams’s title at ErMC2 is Sr. Vice-President, and Mr. Smith’s is Compliance and Reclamation Specialist.

Mr. Adams possesses over 20 years of experience in the mining industry, most recently working with state and federal regulatory authorities in providing legislative guidance for Kentucky’s natural resources. In addition Mr. Adams has extensive administrative experience ranging from business management to advising and supervising a multi-disciplined staff.  As Senior Vice-President, Mr. Adams will conduct surface and underground mine planning and design; environmental permit coordination; regulatory and public policy analysis; acquisition and divesture services; hazard and risk analysis; reclamation liability assessments; compliance audits; geotechnical investigations; property evaluations; reserve modeling; and operational/environmental troubleshooting.  Mr. Adams will also provide litigation support and expert testimony, arbitration support services, case development, and preparation of courtroom exhibits.

Mr. Smith possesses extensive administrative experience ranging from business and budget management to advising and supervising multi-sectional staffs as well as over 20 years of expertise conducting compliance reviews regarding existing coal and non-coal operations in Kentucky and surrounding states.  As Compliance and Reclamation Specialist, Mr. Smith will provide bond release consulting for coal mining as well as the reclamation analysis necessary to establish bond release.  Mr. Smith will also conduct compliance reviews as well as study the various compliance and regulatory standards imposed by the state and federal authorities in order to serve as a liaison and coalition builder.
